RAINBOW BABY
noun
a baby born subsequent to a miscarriage, stillbirth, or the death of an infant from natural causes.
Sweet Ryder is a Rainbow Baby. His sister, Sadie, was born at 19 weeks due to PPROM.
Preterm premature rupture of the membranes (PPROM) is a pregnancy complication. In this condition, the sac (amniotic membrane) surrounding your baby breaks (ruptures) before week 37 of pregnancy. Once the sac breaks, you have an increased risk for infection. You also have a higher chance of having your baby born early.

Kelsey and I go waaaaay back….back to low-rise jeans and chunky highlights (also, fully showing our ages here). While both of us having Rainbow Babies isn’t a bond you’d like to have with anyone, it does create that bond nonetheless. Your heart hurts for others going through it and you love those Rainbow Babies a little harder if you ever get to meet them.
I hold the honor of being the first person to hold Mr. Ryder outside of the hospital. It was instant love.
And since he was in my studio right before Easter, I just had to dig out the bunny outfit!
We made sure to incorporate both his Rainbow status as well as include keepsakes for his sister, Sadie.
